Who we are

Walk Mill in Waverton, Cheshire, gives visitors the chance to see where flour comes from and how it is made in a hands-on multi sensory environment. There has been a mill on this site for centuries and the modern building that you can see today stands on the site of the original building, built in 1200. The Walk Mill site includes the mill itself, now a modern construction but featuring many of the original features of the former mill. In the ‘Miller’s Kitchen’ pupils can see some of the artefacts that were unearthed during the building process of the new site, including Victorian floor tiles. The mill is set in beautiful countryside and a leaflet detailing scenic walks can be obtained from the mill. Education sessions at Walk Mill are suitable for children in Key Stages One and Two. A visit to the mill involves a guided tour of the mill and a bread-making session.
