Who we are

Award winning museum and visitor centre in the centre of St. Helens. Impressive re-imagining of a 16th Century Cone building leads you into the first of two great galleries telling the story of the history of this important town during the industrial revolution. The second brings to life the story of glass from man's discovery with artefacts from 3500 BC through to decorative glass from the 20th century. On site is the archaeological remains of the first regenerative glass making furnace built in 1887. The centre also has live glass-blowing studio and three screen film show. There are educational facilities on site as well as conferencing and meetings rooms. A rolling annual programme of exhibitions in two purpose built galleries are free to the public along with entrance to the Level One Art Gallery, Artisan Shop, the Mirror Maze with interctives for children of all ages and the newly launched Hotties cafe, its name taken from the stretch of the Sankey canal which borders the cafe gardens.
