Who we are

The Ruskin Library is situated on the campus of the University of Lancaster and is home to the archive and collections relating to John Ruskin (1819-1900), the leading British art critic of the Victorian era, art patron, watercolourist, prominent social thinker and philanthropist. The Ruskin Library includes a gallery with exhibitions of the collection (including prints, watercolours, books, manuscripts and memorabilia). The collection centres on Ruskin himself but also covers his friends and associates, many of them prominent artists, writers and architects of the 19th century. KS1/2 Pupils can take part in 2 creative art & design workshops and be inspired by Ruskin’s own sketchbooks and art in this calm and reflective setting.
