Who we are

At the Museum of Science and Industry, our aim is to inspire the curiosity of our future generations into creating ideas that change the world. Manchester was the world’s first industrial city. Our seven and a half acre site houses the world’s oldest surviving passenger railway station, and the world’s first railway warehouse. On an educational visit to the museum, you will see amazing objects and learn about the men and women whose ideas, born in Manchester, changed the world forever.

What we do

Fire the imagination and allow pupils to develop skills and knowledge outside the classroom, by booking an interactive show led by our experienced Explainer team. From historical discoveries to cutting edge material science. Available for KS1 to KS3. There is also the opportunity to visit our interactive gallery ‘Experiment’ for free, as well as take in a free historical demonstration, which bring our world class collection of textile and industrial machinery to life.
