Who we are

The Old Station Heritage and Visitor Centre is situated in the centre of Longridge by the old Preston and Longridge Railway line, which operated from 1840 to 1967. The Heritage and Visitor Centre is a great place to visit to gather information about Longridge and the surrounding Ribble Valley area. Schools can have a classroom session on local history, playing detective using photos and maps from the Town Archive, or stretch their legs on a guided town trail. School groups can split into two and each take a session, then swap over for a half day’s visit. The team can provide content to suit the needs of schools, including sessions on Victorian schools and toys. A booklet is available to schools for £5 with archive content that can be used in projects – “All of Lancashire in a Square Mile.” The Centre organises changing exhibitions, and currently has a new exhibition on Agriculture and Farming in the Ribble Valley.
