Who we are

Croxteth Hall & Country Park is one of the major heritage centres in the North West. This former home of the Molyneux family (Earls of Sefton) lies at the heart of a historic country estate and is only five miles from Liverpool city centre. The beautiful parkland, Rare Breed farm, Victorian walled garden and woodland provide a magnificent 'outdoor classroom' with many opportunities to explore the natural world and its many habitats along with diverse flora and fauna. Some popular activities include; Victorian Christmas allowing children to travel back in time via role play; Spring Awake, a celebration of Spring; and Harvest Helpers with children harvesting produce from the Walled Garden. The Hall, farm, walled garden and wider park offer many areas of study with scope for Science, Maths, History, English (including interesting opportunities for literacy through storytelling) and many cross curricular links that can be made with subjects such as Art, Drama and PSE. The venue can offer self-led and guided tours alongside a number of inspiring activities including role play and hands on sessions. Programmes on offer are suitable for Early Years, KS1-4 and S.E.N pupils and for Tertiary, Further Education and U3A students! The venue has excellent and fully accessible facilities on site, from toilets (including a fully accessible ‘Changing Places’ changing room and toilet with hoist) to adventure playgrounds (including an inclusive wheelchair swing), lunch rooms, use of games boxes and ample free coach parking. Croxteth Hall and Country park offer a range of educational resources, including interpretive panels, historical artefacts, worksheets, workbooks and publications but their most important resource is the dedicated Ranger Interpretation Service and Ranger staff, who provide expert knowledge and innovative delivery. Bespoke events can also be designed to accommodate particular needs and educational levels.
