My Roots, Our Routes: NOFA Winter Sessions Sharing Event 2019

Posted: 01/11/2019

Our flagship orchestra, the National Orchestra for All (NOFA), is a unique ensemble made up of 100 extraordinary young people who are nominated by teachers and social workers for showing commitment and dedication to music in the face of challenging circumstances. The orchestra comes together for residential courses three times a year in venues across the country to rehearse, create new music and perform concerts together. The orchestra exists to improve both the musical and social skills of young people, and to challenge the definition of who an orchestra is for and what it can do.

The orchestra is coming to Liverpool for its next residential course for the weekend of 23-24 November 2019. The 100 members will work with our team of professional orchestral tutors and young disabled composer Lucy Hale (from the Royal Northern College of Music, the winner of our inaugural young composer-in-residence prize) to create a brand new piece of music. The musicians will perform an informal concert at the City of Liverpool College from 4-4:30pm on Sunday 24 November.

Join us at the performance to see what the young people have achieved over the two days. Free/donation tickets are available here:
