Recovery Learning: Pass the Baton

Posted: 06/03/2021

Curious Minds’ CEO, Derri Burdon, has published and open letter to Gavin Williamson, the Secretary of State for Education, on behalf of Curious Minds and the Bubble Up delivery partners.

In it, she calls on the Government to use funding ring-fenced for Summer Schools to mobilise the vast army of professional educators that exists within the nation’s cultural sector, to deliver a compelling programme of summer learning activity to meet the post-lockdown learning and wellbeing needs of our children and young people.

We know that the cultural sector can give our children the summer of creativity, fun and friendship that will help them meet the challenges of transition to secondary school in the autumn. We strongly believe that this is what they need to begin a new academic year curious and ready to learn. We have seen this at work with Bubble Up.

Please help Curious Minds to bring this successful model to the attention of those setting the direction of public policy by adding your name as a signatory to our letter and sharing our campaign with your social and professional networks.
