BOOK NOW: Space, materials, the body: researching young children’s experiences in museums

This event will build on the successful event at Sheffield last year, which brought researchers, museum practitioners and consultants together to connect with new ideas and research about children in museums. We will explore the following shared questions:
- How can we conceptualise children in museums differently?
- How can we think about the material, spatial and bodily nature of very young children as they explore and move through museum spaces?
- What are the implications of this for museum provision (such as programming and interpretation), and what does research need to look at next?
This hands on event will provide a mixture of findings from cutting edge research projects and practical workshops with ideas for researching children’s experience of museums that delegates will be able to adapt for their own contexts.
