CPD Taster Session for Primary Teachers

Posted: 18/06/2018

For our third PAN meeting of the school year, we're offering primary school teachers the opportunity to get creative in artist led workshops and learn new skills to take back to the classroom.

The session will start with a short movement and mark making activity led by dance artist and educator Paula Hampson.

Then teachers will have the opportunity to choose from 3 different artist led taster sessions:

Faith Bebbington, dot-art: Giant Flowers - Renowned local sculptor Faith Bebbington will introduce you to some basic sculpture skills using reclaimed materials. For this short taster session participants will create a giant flower using simple techniques and recycled materials, particularly newspaper, wire and colour tape. This straightforward 3D process can be adapted for use with other themes and programmes of work back in the classroom.

Emma Hulme, Writing on the Wall: Super Hero Selves - Utilising an asset-based approach through creative writing and illustration participants will create a brand new super hero based upon themselves, their talents and their achievements. Through writing bursts, character development and drawing the workshop will create new, diverse characters that are fighting for the greater good in schools and beyond!

Betty Ritchie, Bluecoat: Using the City as Inspiration - Sharing methodology from Bluecoat's Out of the Blue project, this workshop will use famous landmarks and works of art as inspiration for a creative workshop.

Each taster will last 30 minutes with the opportunity to participate in 2 activities.

This meeting also offers a chance to see the sixth annual dot-art Schools exhibition featuring a range of artworks created by over 50 winning young artists (Year 5 & 9) from this year’s inter-school art competition for Liverpool City region.

There will also be an opportunity to hear from the Liverpool Biennial's Education team who will be sharing details of their upcoming programme and how schools can get involved.

Arrivals from 3.45 for light refreshments with a 4pm start.
