What's Up Alfie? - mental health & wellbeing for Key Stage 1 - New tour dates!

Posted: 15/03/2024

We're delighted to announce new tour dates for What's Up Alfie? - a performance about mental health for children aged 4 - 7.  The play will be touring schools from 16th April - 10th May 2024.

'What's Up Alfie?' is a performance and workshop package which explores resilience, communication and managing big feelings and emotions.  Children learn with Alfie and develop practical strategies to support their mental health and wellbeing as they grow up.

Alfie is having a bad day.

In fact most of his days are bad days at the moment.

And he doesn’t want to talk about it.

Join Alfie in Grandad’s attic, where he’s hiding and feeling sad.

Alfie doesn’t want to open up, but Grandad is clever and knows Alfie can’t resist an adventure!

And so begins a journey which takes them on a pirate ship, into space and back in time to the Olympics - and in each place Alfie must solve a problem and learn about how he feels and how he can help himself.

Alfie’s journey helps children explore mental health, wellbeing and how our brains work. The performance gives children a wonderful theatrical experience whilst exploring sensitive topics in a creative and age-appropriate way.

What’s Up Alfie? is a 35 minute performance for all of Key Stage 1 followed by a workshop where children can work with the actors to explore the themes of the play. The performance also comes with a resource pack of activities which can be completed back in class - all of which link to the PSHE/Healthy Relationships curriculum.
